What is Dermaplaning? Dermaplaning is an advanced exfoliation technique used on intact skin (no active whiteheads) to remove the dead, sticky, upper most layer of skin with a side benefit of peach fuzz removal as well. Leaving your skin feeling soft, smooth and giving the appearance of less fine lines, wrinkles, and dark spots. Does it hurt? Nope. I use a few drops of oil to ensure comfort for the entire procedure. Will it make the hair grow back thicker? No. If that was the case, people with thin hair would dermplane their heads! Typically, for women, the hair on our face is thin and light. At any given moment though, our hormones could flip the switch on a pore and have the hair grow think and dark. If you are finding more of these annoying dark, thick hairs, please contact your physician for a health/hormone check. Will it make me breakout? No...It will not make you break out. What it does is that it removes the dead sticky cells that lay on top of the skin, This means that if you were going to have a whitehead erupting next week, you may see it erupt sooner. I always get 2-3 little pimples about 3 days after dermaplaning. What cant I do before the procedure? You must refrain from sun exposure resulting in a tan or burn. No exfoliating your skin or using any retinol products for 7 days prior to appt. What do I do after the procedure? You may gently touch your face with clean hands only. If. you wear makeup, mineral makeup is best and only applied with clean fingers or brushes. You will leave with spf of at least 30 on your skin. It's very important to wear sunscreen everyday for a minimum of 2 weeks. How soon can I do receive another Dermaplaning treatment? I like to wait a minimum of 4-6 weeks between dermaplaning appointments. This allows a fresh layer of skin to cycle and facial hair to grow back out. Cost: $55 and includes a facial cleanse oil-planing, post care serums and spf.
